Deep Green App Reviews

Empfehlenswert, aber noch nicht optimal

This chess game is really simple with a great design and everything is reduced to really needed functionality. Some things I would wish to see in an update: more intuitive buttons at the bottom, option to view fields numbers, learning mode to learn cool tricks etc. Apart from this: I love it.

Delightful design

Clean elegant design, wish someone would create something similar for GO. A quibble, at a certain level, the opening move of the computer is always the same.

Please update for the new iPad

Its retina now, you know... Oh and and if the computer could say what ipening he was playing in playback, that would be awesome!!!!

Fantastic Design, though...

wish the engine would get an overhaul finally. It could definitely be THE chess game for iOS. All focus on that!

Woah

This is the most beautifully crafted chess game I think Ive ever seen. More iPhone games need to be this nice.

Excellent!

This is an elegant, polished and functional game of chess. Plus the developer is very friendly and responsive.

Excellent App

This really does have a gorgeous interface, and a surprising number of options and features that have clearly been painstakingly integrated into a very tight interface. If Apple ever bundles some apps with future iPhones/iPods, this should be a standard.

Lovely

Worth every penny.

Nice App but...

Nice app but the chess engine can be easily beaten by chess genius, caissa chess and chess classics. Please add some option on chess pieces and board design and background. Make the chess board a lot bigger. I really like the animation though. Please also include engine analysis on each moves and opening explored. Please update right away!!

Newton nostalgia

Most excellent rewrite of the old Newtons application which I had back in the days! Beautiful and simple!

Truly a Classic

Fantastic app; great implementation of a classic game. Simple and intuitive, but also well-polished and feature-rich. Loads and exits quickly, artwork is gorgeous, and controls are great. May not suit the hardcore chess set, but suits me just fine. Money well spent.

Very good mini chess application

Deep Green has a very elegant visual interface and a good balance between functionality and usability. It is a pleasure to play with while on the go. It also starts fast and does not crash. It could be improved with a way to save games and sync them with a computer. The games could then be analyzed by more powerful chess programs (analysis is a great way to improve the players chess skills). The Deep Green chess engine was designed to be small and efficient so there should be no need to import games.

As Elegant as an iPhone App Should Be

From its graphics to its UI design, Deep Green is a pleasure to use. It was written by someone who must care about quality and presentation. It delivers with professional standards. I have recommended this app to other iPhone users and will continue to do so. Great work!

One Small Issue

Good. Not great. One major issue I have is that Deep Green does not seem to acknowledge when a game is drawn. Has anyone else encountered this?

No features - worth $0.99

Hi, this program only allows the player to play white or black. There are no other features, such as time controls, etc. This program is worth 99-cents! Send the author a message dont buy it, until he upgrades it. There are many better programs with full features, Fritz, Chess Genius, Shredder tChessPro, etc..

Bad update...

Last update has a big bug: the info section is empty, cannot customize the game any mor, PLEASE FIX IT! Would it be possible to add multiplayer or peer2peer mode game?! A lot of chess games has it, and theyre free..keep up the good work!

great chess game

Good chess engine for casual players, and its the best looking chess game on iTunes with an excellent interface. There are no time controls or ELO ratings, but those are best served by pro-dedicated games. This one just looks wonderful and is a lot of fun to play.

Does the job...

This app was one of the first I purchased; in my impatience it took me a bit to figure out how to adjust the intelligence of my opponent and it is tough to get a handle on the tiny board with my big meaty fingers but it definitely does the job. I would expect there to be a few more features for the price I paid; I.E. some lessons or some kind of training portion as I can get a free chess app any time that just plays the game. I do like the fact that you can set up a board with any scenario and play it out so kudos on that.

Nice update, finally!

I had given up on this app. And I was actually a little upset as it was fairly pricey for something so simple. Compare it to Infinite Blade which is still cheaper. But it was one of my first purchases on the iPhone. Lo and behold it has been updated. And nicely done too! It looks gorgeous on the Retina Display! However, I just have to drop one star for the price. $7 is far too expensive for chess. I forgive the developer a little as the price point was set a long time ago but the App Store has evolved since then. So should the price of this app.

too many bugs/unsupported

the developer does not fix any bugs so you better spend 8 bucks elsewhere
